12/04/2010

The home of the week in Asheville Citizen is the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn which is owned by Billy Sanders and Michael Griffith. Sold by Carol Pennell 10/09.The mansion is older than the Biltmore House and has an interesting history.

NUTS AND BOLTS: The inn: A 12,000-square-foot inn with eight guest rooms and 11 baths. Built in the Federalist style in the mid-1800s, it was renovated in the Colonial Revival style early in the 20th century. There are three more guest rooms in the carriage house and two in the cottage.

The innkeepers: Billy Sanders and Michael Griffith. Billy was in human resources for 20 years, and Michael is a vice president of a company in Chicago. Their English bulldogs are Rhett and Scarlett.

Defining aspect: You couldn’t afford the woodwork that covers the walls and comprises the staircase inside the Reynolds Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn.
